“Simba”

1 year old male Siberian Husky

Adoption fee $350

This young, spunky looking boy is full of cheek and personality! He’s a real go-getter up for an adventure, but can also be quite sooky and loves to cuddle into you.

Unfortunately he is not full of training - but that’s where you come in!

Simba’s new owner will be a husky enthusiast who does not shy away from the rewarding challenge of teaching Simba all he needs to know to become a well-rounded family member. You’ll be experienced with the breed and keen on dog training, in fact you’ve probably already picked out the obedience school you’ll take him to. You’ll have lots of time to spend with him on a daily basis, showing him right from wrong.

Simba’s a clever boy and he’s been clever enough to work out that he could get away with whatever he’d like in the past. Sadly we think this is the result of most likely being a “backyard only” dog.

It’s quite evident that Simba is not used to being walked on the lead, he does pull and zig-zag all over the place but he is slowly learning not to, it’s a huge improvement on the gymnastics routine he was pulling when first on lead!

Harness him up though and it’s like he was born doing it, he runs his little heart out and is well focused for a first timer, he passed other dogs nicely and could be trained to be a good runner.

Simba is friendly with female dogs but can be growly at males, he does not like puppies or small dogs at all. He would suit a home as an only dog or with an older, dominant female to teach him the ways of the world and keep him in check, but they’ll also need to love to play and use up some of that energy!

Simba is choosy with his companions and will need a meet and greet to ensure suitability. Due to his selectiveness with canine companions he is not suitable for visiting off leash dog parks, this may improve with training and careful socialisation. If he is to be an only dog you’ll need to make sure you can keep him mentally stimulated during the day so he doesn’t get lonely.

As Simba is still quite young a commitment to at least one walk per day, preferably two is a must, a run or a bike ride is even better! You’ll also need secure 6ft fencing to ensure he doesn’t decide to exercise himself away from your yard.

Due to his exuberance Simba will need a home with adults only.

Simba has very high prey drive and cannot live with cats, chickens, pocket pets …  or horses… unless you have a horse that can run fast and needs some exercise – in which case he’d be perfect to keep it in shape.

If you’ve gotten this far into his profile and are still thinking ‘hell yes’ then I’d encourage you to fill in an adoption application form as we’d love to hear from you: http://amraa.org.au/adoption-form

Simba comes vet checked, microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, flea & worm treated. MC # 953010000185270
